Description: Hibiki is physically fit, with a moderately muscular build due to his extensive training protocols. He has light-brown hair that is always cut short and is rarely left long and unkempt. A small goatee protrudes from his chin, though he leaves the rest of his face cleanly shaven. His eyes are a hazy white, and his other facial features are relatively narrow-looking. Two scars go down the left of his face diagonally, beginning on his cheek bone and slightly running through the left side of his mouth.
Personality: Around most of his fellow Shinigami and in social environments, Hibiki seems outwardly stoic, stern, and quiet. When encountering small groups of associates, subordinates, or friends, Hibiki contains most of his seriousness still but is known to be humorous and quite cheerful. Hibiki has strong views of loyalty, duty, and justice, and his ideals follow accordingly. Hibiki also carries a multitude of philosophical beliefs - in similarity to that of some traditional Japanese philosophies such as Bushido - that he follows diligently, and from which he has vowed to keep practicing after his departure from the Rukongai. He is known to his too many in the Southern Rukon as a quiet but strong warrior, obviously containing some heavily-concealed emotions, and is often referred to by his closest subordinates and other leaders of high social status as the Silent Samurai or the Silent Sentinel.
History: Hibiki spent his childhood years in the South Rukon district, on the edges of the district, in some of the poorest and crime-evident slums in the region. Like most of the children that live in the Soul Society's poorer districts, Hibiki learned how to survive off of his instinct, each day being a struggle of life and death. Known for his unusually strong spiritual energy at a young age, the Gotei 13 took special interest in his abilities and recruited him as soon as he was able - part of their interest being that they did not desire someone of hidden potential to fall into the 'wrong hands'.

Spirit Form: The spirit forms of the five zanpakutou are merely humanoid elemental entities that are enclosed in their respective elements (Chikyu looks as a humanoid golem, and Kaen, like a man on fire, for example) The realm itself that the zanpakutou reside in appears high in the clouds enveloped in a dull golden light. The elemental spirits of earth and water are seated on one side of clouds, the fire and wind elements opposite them, and the spirit of Heaven/Void/Truth sits at the end of the two sides of elemental spirits.

Abilities:
Shikai: Chikyū transforms into a buckler that can extend blades equal to the width of the shield itself. The blades layer themselves over each other to provide greater protection and can extend the size of the overall buckler by 150% of its original size. The shield has the ability to absorb reiryoku from the opponent, not only in its released state, but also while in its suppressed form, though Chikyū's leeching abilities in all states are dictated by the wielder. Recall that reiryoku is not necessarily the same as reiatsu, but more so what gives a person the ability to utilize reiatsu. The absorbed energy can be used to enhance the wielder's natural abilities. It also has the ability to redirect the absorbed energy into a powerful energy blast, or a shield of reiatsu.
Techniques:
Hassha o Yaburu (Break Shot) - Once Chikyu has absorbed enough spirit energy it can discharge a blast similar in power and speed to the Hado technique Sokatsui. The power used in the shot is dispersed from the center of the shield and can be observed before firing by the dim green light it emits.
Ishigaki no Tate (Stonewall Shield) - Another form of power Chikyu can utilize is using the drawn spirit energy it collects to form a shield around the user. The shield is powerful enough to endure low-level energy attacks and take a heavy beating from ones of more physical nature, but will quickly collapse if disrupted by too much power over a short time. The shield can only protect the wielder.
Shikai: Kaen transforms into a trident twice as tall as the wielder, with engraved flame-like markings all about it and a chain near the bottom end of the weapon. The trident is actually a naginata with a cross section below the blade and the other two prongs of the trident are individual blades themselves, which can be separated or reattached at the will of the wielder. Kaen's ability is to create fire that can be manipulated in a multitude of ways, depending on the skill and technique of the user. The trident also concentrates its own immense power into the three bladed prongs it contains. When a strike is made, the intense temperature of the weapon can easily shred through any form of spiritual energy, which can be used in a variety of situations to the user's benefit.
Techniques:
Rinrintaru Kizuato (Biting Scar) - Preformed when the trident separates into the single naginata and two shorter blades per willpower. The naginata is thrown at the target's torso with an intent to impale, as the two blades circle around and flank at the sides of the target. The swords can be manipulated to strike any part of the target, but usually are directed towards the limbs in order to pin a target down effectively.
Kajō Jōnetsu (Spiral Ardor) - When the trident is spun around in consecutive motions, wheels of flame are created, able to be launched by directing the weapon in the desired direction. A larger spiral of flames can be created and manipulated if the user spins the trident for an extended period of time.
Shikai: When Kaze is released, the sword takes the form of a zigzagged blade. The blade is widest near the middle of the blade and shrinks towards the hilt and the tip. Kaze's ability is to manipulate the mixture of spirit energy present in the atmosphere, which can be utilized to create energy-infused wind shock waves, or similar techniques that can be employed with force and reiryoku. Also, Kaze can concentrate its reiryoku to specific points of the blade, similar to the ability of Kaen.
Techniques:
Kyōfu no Honryū (Dread Torrent) - By controlling the flow of reiryoku in the surrounding atmosphere and wind, the user can whip up a series of small, tornado-like projectiles that move at incredible speeds. Though the objects might seem like physical weapons, they are actually manifested spirit energy and are as potent as any other Kido technique. By increasing the width of these projectiles, shock waves of the same energy can be shot from the blade.
Taka no Niramu (Hawk's Glare) - The ability for Kaze to absorb spirit energy and augment the user's physical speed with said power. If there is a certain lack of spirit energy in the atmosphere then the blade will absorb it from any surrounding lifeforms.
Shikai: Mizu assumes the form of a slender scimitar when it is initially released in its shikai form. Mizu has the mysterious ability, of which is utilized by its unique spiritual energy, to make the wielder have a certain skillful and literal fluidity around their being that makes the user more difficult to strike. The aura around the wielder reflects most attacks from weapons and even mid-power energy attacks (like a cero) seemingly warp off of the user. The skillful fluidity of the blade possessed through its spirit, assists the user by enhancing the skills of counterattacking and accuracy.
Techniques:
Migiwa (The Water's Edge) - Not so much an ability as it is an effect of simply using the blade, Migiwa refers to the characteristic of Mizu allowing its wielder to dodge with the utmost accuracy and precision.
Shikai: Kukan retains no unique abilities unless all of its other sister and brother blades have been mastered by the wielder. It suppressed state, in fact, cannot even be grasped by anyone either than who the sword perceives as its master, and it will intentionally inflict harm on those who it does not see fit to hold it. Kukan will accomplish said harm by emitting extremely precise miniature explosions of its own spiritual energy towards anyone who tries to grasp it. Of course, such a trait cannot be used practically in battle because it is extremely small-scale and causes minimal damage. When all of its sister and brother blades have been mastered Kukan holds no special abilities to assist its wielder in combat, only the ability to be released into a type of pseudo-shikai. In this form, the other blades all join into Kukan's, at which point the user can then release the blade into its true form.
Bankai

Abilities: Shinjitsu is the bankai-released form of Kukan, which still resembles its former shape of a nodachi, with intricate carvings and markings of unknown origin. Shinjitsu's release clothes the wielder in a set of pure white and gold, samurai-like armor. The armor also has a piece of cloth were the mask of the helmet would normally be, leaving the user relatively blind.
This form gives the user incredibly massive leeching abilities similar to the same effect as those powers of Chikyu and Kaze, but amplified greatly. Whilst the absorption powers of Chikyu and Kaze can feed off of the raw spirit energy of other lifeforms, leeching of that magnitude will have very little effect on those it absorbs from. What's different between those shikai skills and Shinjitsu is that Shinjitsu's leeching will actually cause fatigue to those it absorbs from - prolonged exposure can even cause unconsciousness. The abilities that this leeching gives to the user is separated into three different 'stances', one being defensive, another strength-oriented, and the last being accuracy proficient.
Techniques:
Ishigaki no Yōsai (Stonewall Fortress) - The ability to absorb reiryoku from the surrounding atmosphere and any other beings, selectively, and form the energy into a formidable shield. This technique's durability is very considerable, capable of standing up to Captain-level attacks of physical and spiritual manner. It can't be sustained for long periods of time, overly-powerful energy attacks can theoretically dispel it, but it protects an area slightly larger than its preceding power (about two meters in every direction, forming a spherical barrier). The hue of the barrier is a bright, yet translucent lime green.
Mizu no Megumi (Water's Grace) - Absorbed reiryoku is solidified into a thin mist that surrounds the user's body (in other words, its not a huge field of fog). This makes the user mysteriously difficult to hit with physical attacks, as they are enshrouded completely by this mist, often leaving behind afterimages. Like its other forms, this mode cannot be sustained for long periods of time as it requires a constant strain of spirit energy.
Shinjitsu no Tatari (Truth's Retribution) - By focusing all collected spirit energy into the blade of Shinjitsu, the resulting effect is a weapon that can literally shatter defenses and deliver devastating physical attacks - like small sonic booms of power with each sword swing. The power can all be released at once by placing the sword in a horizontal position per the user's willpower, creating a massive explosion and additionally harming the user considerably. The drawbacks mean that after this technique is used for a short period of time, the user will be utterly exhausted beyond capability to continue standing, let alone fight.
This bankai has detrimental negative effects on the user's body once the form is relinquished, leaving the user incapacitated from anywhere between three days and a week.
