Description: He’s a pretty short guy and people think to think of him as extremely short because he’s always slouched over. He’s thin but very physically fit for his body size but again because he’s always slouched over people tend to think of him as weak. People tend to think of him as a intellectual kido type soul reaper because of his size but what usually surprises them is although he is very proficient in kido his main fighting style is melee combat.
Personality: Although he is very smart he’s seems scatter brained most of the time and his favorite thing to do is relax. He’s very artistic and sarcastic making him the perfect editor for the Seiretei Communication Magazine. He is a very proficient melee fighter and can calmly assess most any combat situation. This is another reason why he’s perfect for squad 9 captain because part of his duty is to lead the seiretei protection squad. He’s a brilliant strategist but tends to delegate most of his duties to his subordinates only using his true intellect and potential when the situation becomes dire. He’s pretty sly, as in he keeps most of his true thoughts and intentions to himself and projects an appearance for everyone to see. (A lot like a non-evil Azien) Those who have seen his true potential do not take him lightly by any means, which tends to confuse all those people who don’t know what he’s really like. He’s a pretty sweet guy and everyone tends to get along with him pretty well most of the time because of the mask he puts on in front of everyone, although underneath this mask he still has peoples best interests in heart its just not everyone could understand his complex way of thinking and interacting.
History: Kai’s moved around a lot in his time at the gotei 13. His earliest days were spent serving the second squad in the Onmitsukido. After serving there and becoming a proficient hand to hand/melee fighter he moved to the 12th squad and served as their 3rd seat for a long time learning kido and putting his high intelligence to good use. Eventually the 9th squad captain position became available and his captain put him up for the position. Due to his varied experience in several aspects of fighting and his easy going, yet brilliant mind he easily passed the exam and has been captain of the 9th squad ever since.
Zanpakutou
Name: Taka to Hidora (The hawk and the hydra)

Kai’s spirit is just like the above picture and is a multi-possessed being forever locked in a constant battle, the Hawk and the Hydra. His inner world also takes the form of a war zone.
Sealed Form: A normal black katana with a hawk symbol etched into the oval hilt.
Shikai Taka

Appearance:
Kai’s weapon is a pretty unique weapon. It takes the form of a cross between a Kyoketshu Shogei and a bladed whip. It has a handle that has a blade on the hilt with and open half circle that can be hooked onto the dagger at the end of the bladed whip. When the two daggers are apart he can us it as either a bladed whip or duel wield daggers with a chain in the middle to entrap and tangle the opponent. When the two daggers are connected it becomes a rather large dagger and the bladed whip part double wraps around the users arm embedding itself in his arm (Dark Prince/Prince of Persia style). The bladed whip can also grow or shrink in size.
Abilities: Kai’s shikai is a melee type zanpakutou and therefore its main ability per say is kai’s extremely practiced and skillful use of this complicated and deadly weapon.

Bankai

Appearance:
Kais is covered in the above armor like gear. The main component of this gear is that his previous weapon becomes the gauntlet type glove. One thing that’s different is the glove has three more spikes that spread the length down the arm instead of just at the elbow. These three spikes can be pulled from their sockets and used as chained daggers that can stretch or be recoiled back to the gauntlet. He can also grip on of these daggers and make it take the form of his sealed sword giving him access to a normal katana if he needs it.
Abilities: In bankai Kai’s sword has a little bit more magical/kido element to it instead of just melee power. The gauntlet type glove can transform and take the form of one of the hydra heads in the zanpakutou’s spirit form. This head can then stretch forth and attacks like a giant demon arm. What then continues to be special is that if the arm is severed in any way a second head/arm grows and it becomes a two/three up to six headed hydra. Kai’s other abilities gained in this form is he gets a major boost to his speed and strength for melee combat.
[Lash] – Kai can perform his shikai attack with the chained daggers. What’s different however is he can perform 3x times as many attacks due to having three daggers.
[Hydra’s Embrace] – Once Kai’s hyrda arm as reached a minimum of three heads they can then either combine into one giant strong arm and attack you that way or once they’ve combined Kai can use the ability [Hydra’s Bite] which is where the three or more heads combine and fire up to a hundred hydras out of their mouth that all try to catch the opponent and either bite or constrict them to death. These launched heads do not multiply and instead disappear once you’ve slashed them.

Effect: Creates an energy barrier in the form of a large rectangular wall. One of the strongest if not the strongest kido based shield.

Effect: Fires an oval like blast of purple energy that incinerates the target completely on contact.

Incantation: “Seeping crest of turbidity. Arrogant vessel of lunacy! Boil forth and deny! Grow numb and flicker! Disrupt sleep! Crawling queen of iron! Eternally self-destructing doll of mud! Unite! Repulse! Fill with soil and know your own powerlessness!”
Effect: Envelops the target in a black coffin like box covered in several spear like protrusions. The spears then pierce the box causing terrible lacerations all over the targets body.
