Hitomi slowly rises from her desk back in the barracks and serenely walks over towards a window, staring at the sun shining outside. She rubs her eyes a little and gives a little yawn before pacing about her quarters.
"The Captain's out, and it looks like I got stuck with all the paperwork. Hehe, what an irresponsible man. I suppose this means I have to handle it."
With that being said, Hitomi sits back down at the desk and gets to work on the large stack of papers sitting there on her desk.
"Hmm... some minor altercations occured in Rukongai... there's a bit of a problem going on in the Research and Development Lab.... Hollow Sightings around Karakura Town.. *Sigh* I guess that leaves us a lot of work to do. I'm sure the Captain will deal with some of this.."
Neatly filing away a number of papers, Hitomi gives a little sigh, as she picks on the last piece of paper that was on her desk and reads the report.
"Several Shinigami were slain today by a powerful Arrancar located near Karakura Town. A contingent of shinigami were dispatched to the scene and have yet to return or make any reports about the situation. All units are expected to be on high alert until their status can be confirmed." "This is such terrible news.... I hope everyone is okay.."

Sairou had just returned from a short visit to Karakura Town. He heard about the arrancar there and had decided to check it out on his own. Of course, he wasn't stupid enough to confront the being without the captain commander's permission. He had simply went to see what was going on; since the captain commander himself had gone down to deal with the problem. He had seen the arrancar, but as soon as the captain commander showed up, Sairou went back to the Soul Society.
As he exited the senkaimon, he landed in the entrance to Soul Society. He took his time getting back to his barracks, taking out his favorite book so he could read it along the way. He knew there was a lot of paperwork to get done, as it always seemed like that, but he had his lieutenant to take care of those. He figured he'd have to be drawn into it if he arrived before it was done, so walking slowly and taking his time was the best option he had so far.
It took him about an hour to reach the Squad Three barracks' entrance, but he decided to detour a little bit to make sure all the paperwork for the day was finished with before he went inside. He made a round through the various nearby barracks, while some of the other Shinigami asked him if he was skipping out on his work, which he often tried to do. He simply replied with, "Of course not. It's just such a beautiful day and I decided to take a walk and read," as he smiled.
He eventually got back to the barracks after about 45 minutes of walking. He stood at the entrance for a short while, before reluctantly opening the door to his barracks, expecting to see a tower of paperwork, while hoping for it to have all been done by his lieutenant.

As Hitomi files away the last bit of paperwork, she glaces up towards the entrance and notices the captain standing there peering through the entrance. She stands up from the desk and takes a bow, and then smiles at him.
"Ah! Captain, you're back! I just finished the last of the paperwork that we were assigned. Hehe, don't worry, I did your paperwork too, so you're free to do whatever you want the rest of the day."
Slightly worried about the Arrancar problem, Hitomi gives a little bit of a sad sigh and sits back down in her chair.
"Such a waste of good men..."

Sairou grinned and happily entered the room when he noticed the paperwork was finished. "Hitomi, you're my favorite lieutenant, you know." he said with a smile. He was now free to stay in his office all day and finish his book. He noticed his lieutenant sigh, and went to sit down at a nearby chair.
"You worried about that Arrancar?" he asked, as he looked out the window. It was very likely that's what she was worried about, since everyone was talking about it and the fact the Seireitei was on high alert because of it. "The Captain Commander went down there to take care of it, so it'll be fine, probably." he said with a smile, as he opened his book and started reading it.

Hitomi looks up towards the Captain and smiles weakly
H-how'd you know? But, yes sir. I uh... I'm just worried about that squad of men they sent. I don't really like hearing bad news about our friends disappearing... But if the commander is on the case... we shouldn't have anything.. to worry about..
Hitomi puts her hand to her chin and ponders for a little while about the situation.
Say, Captain. When was the last time our Squad got sent out on any missions? If you ask me, it almost feels like the Captain Commander forgot about us or something..

Sairou smirked at his lieutenant's remarks. "Everyone's been worried about it. Plus, it's put us in a high alert state; but that's probably only because the captain commander isn't here." he said with a sigh. With the captain commander gone, soul society wasn't nearly as strong as it should be; and if the Espada decided to attack now, it wouldn't be a good sign. He figured that was the reason for the high alert, not the arrancar itself.
At her second comment, the captain let out a nervous laugh before replying. "Well, you see... I'm sure he just thinks we're better used to defend the Seireitei should it be attacked. We're just on defense detail, or something..." he said, with a small laugh.
Although that may have been the truth in some way, the reason they weren't going on missions was because Sairou had often convinced the captain commander to pass the missions to someone else, because he was too engrossed with a certain book at the time.

Hearing those words, Hitomi eases back into a relaxed state of being.
Well, I guess what's done is done. I think I'll go and take a walk now. It's a nice day outside afterall!
Hitomi raises from her seat and starts to exit the building, bidding farewell to the doorman as she passes by the exit.
I'm getting a little rusty... maybe I should practice a little zanjutsu somewhere..

Sairou stood up as well, but not to follow his lieutenant outside. He was tired from walking around, so he decided to go to his own office and read some books for the rest of the day. "I'll be reading in my office, so make sure everyone knows not to bother me." he said with a smile as he opened a sliding door. "And good luck with your training. If I'm in the mood I might go out for some training myself." he said, with a smirk before closing the door and heading to his desk.

Hitomi somehow manages to bypass all logic, and appears in the Squad 3 barracks, holding a bag of flour. She sets it on her captains desk, and takes a seat in his office. A bit tired from that fight, Hitomi gives out a little sigh.
I didn't forget.. the flour... but I couldn't save the human. He's sorta.. roadkill, via menos grande foot action. Another being showed up, I didn't know what to make of him.... he.. ATE the menos grande after we killed it.

Sairou looked up from the book he had been reading, noticing the flour. "Good job, Hitomi!" he said with a grin and thumbs up as he took the flour. Before he could put it up though, the rest of his lieutenant's words reached him and he stopped.
"From what I heard at the twelfth division, that human was pretty strong, all things considered. Are the Hollows getting stronger, or was it just bad luck?" he said to himself, looking at the flour, lost in thought. He thought back to a Captain's meeting they had not long ago. There was something about stronger Hollows frequenting Karakura Town. When he realized what he was doing, he snapped out of it, and laughed to himself a little.
"Heh, anyway. I wouldn't worry about the human. I'm sure one of the other Shinigami will take care of his plus." he said with a smile as he put the flour up. "I wonder if that other being is gonna get heartburn or something. Well, what do you think?" he asked his lieutenant with a smirk.

Hitomi ponders upon that for a small while, trying to piece together everything she observed from the encounter with that man she had earlier.
Well, from what I saw, this man, Yuji. He's not human. His reiatsu is very differently composed than what a human or a shinigami is like. His race seems to feed off of souls, which means they will become a problem later, if they ever get large enough to start disrupting the flow of souls significantly.
She sighs again, and goes back to thinking about what she saw.

"Yuji is it? Well, we'll have the twelfth division handle finding out what he is. Once we get a lock on his reiatsu, it shouldn't be too hard to keep track of him, right?" Sairou said with a smile. "And if his kind start causing trouble, it wouldn't be too difficult to take them out." he said with a grin, drawing his zanpakutou and swinging it around playfully.
"Well, either way, it seemed like a fairly successful mission, right? Considering we haven't been on many missions at all." he said with a laugh as he sheathed his zanpakutou.

Hitomi perks up a little bit about the success of the mission, as since she hadn't been sent out on anything in a nice long time, Hitomi hadn't thought about how well the mission went.
Y-yes! Atem and I did quite well against the swarm of Hollow, and then the Menos that appeared. Captain Nakamura arrived as well, and assisted in the takedown. I am fairly certain I got in the final blow, and dealt the most damage to the creature, however. It just wouldn't do if I ended up looking bad in front of one of my juniors, you know?
Hitomi giggles a little bit, and then her face reverts to a serious state. She has a question for her captain.
H-hey, Captain Katagami... what was it like, working to get your Bankai?

"Oh? I didn't know Captain Nakamura went down to Karakura Town." he said to himself, wondering if the others that went to dispatch the hollow were back yet.
"And... my Bankai, eh? Don't remind me." he said with a gloomy face. "It was horrid... that wolf was so fast... It was probably the hardest I'd ever worked in my entire life as a Shinigami. I thought I was gonna die again before it was halfway through." he said, shivering slightly. Of course, Sairou was exaggerating the difficulty since he never liked to work hard. In reality, it wasn't as bad as he made it out to be, even though it was a tough endeavor.
"And Shiden wouldn't take it seriously from the start, so we ended up wasting a lot of time before we even started. And even when I got serious, he would just screw around. It was like a horrible game of tag." he said with a sigh as he dropped his head.

Oh, I uh... I kinda ditched Captain Nakamura and Atem back in Karakura... I didn't really feel up to fighting something else...and I had to get the flour!
As she says that, Sairou begins to talk about his bankai trial. He looks lost in thought about it, but experience with him tells Hitomi that he's probably embellishing it just a tad. She knows it will be no cakewalk though.
R-really? That bad? Yikes... I was thinking to myself that it might be time for me to give it a shot. If I recall, I activated my shikai extremely quickly, compared to most shinigami... and Masamune and I get along very well, the few times I have conversations with her...
She giggles a bit about the game of tag that her captain described. It seemed so like him that his zanpakuto was also somewhat eccentric and energetic.
Hmm... So, how did you like, go about starting it anyways? Sword speaks to you, you have a nice chat, and then a fight for your life, the usual?
