Quincy
Name: Volkner Luitger (/Matsuoka)
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Weight: ~140 lbs
Height: 5'9"
Description:
Bow: Volkner's weapon assumes the form of a recurve bow, meaning that its tips curve away from the archer when the bow is strung. The grip of the bow is the only portion that appears physically metallic, and the limbs of the weapon are pure energy. This form of bow is better for dealing the maximum amount of damage at mid range.
Quincy Cross: Though it may appear to be just an ordinary pocket watch, the item that Volkner carries with him at all times is actually his Quincy Cross. Just as for any Quincy, the item allows the user to channel their energy and form their spirit weapon. Across the top of the object, engraved into the silver, is a Luitger family Quincy cross.
Personality: Arrogant, controlling, and punctual are a few words that could describe Volkner. This young yet exceptionally skilled Quincy is most notable for his assurance in his own skills, which he will typically back-up by proving the matter directly with a challenge. Volkner isn't afraid to speak his mind and isn't one to lose his cool. His nature also guides him to excel in just about everything he does or attempts.
Volkner's strict military-like upbringing has made him a very 'by the book' kind of person when it comes to completing a specific task, whether its battle or otherwise. He is relentless in trying to complete his goals and will do so under any circumstances. He's also not quite the person to have an abundance of friends and prefers to work alone, so he can sometimes come off as rude when speaking to others.
In battle, Volkner is a merciless combatant. Due to his reason for being in Karakura he cares little if his antics end up harming the local denizens, but he also realizes that he must keep control of his own actions if he wishes to 'operate' with little suspicion while in the area. He will only hold himself back when the situation interferes with his mission directives or his family's sacred code of conduct. Though he has no personal grudge against Shinigami or the Gotei 13 as a whole, his family's virtues uphold him to eliminate any such individuals.
History: Centuries ago, when the Shinigami exterminated the Quincy race, some smaller splinter factions of the group managed to slip away before the massacre. One such faction was the Luitger family, whom moved their base of operations around Europe during the years the Shinigami continued their extreme measures. As the years drew on the Luitger eventually came out of hiding, and by that time the family had established a minor position of ruling in Germany.
Hearing the most recent exploits of the Soul Society, and harboring their century-old hatred, the Luitger slowly began to rebuild its ranks and repair its structure of power. In order to remain hidden from the watchful eyes of the Gotei 13, the Luitger constructed massive underground facilities in which its next generation would use to hone Quincy powers. In addition, there was very little Hollow slaying for some periods of time, and in others it was outright banned for fear of repercussions. At all costs the family's sole objective was to preserve the Quincy heritage and lineage, even though the more traditional methods of harnessing such powers were very limited given their need to be inconspicuous.
Skip forward a few more decades and the Luitger is now a substantial holder of power in major parts of Germany. The family has a fair amount of resources at their disposal and their ranks have increased from a mere score of Quincys to nearly three hundred.
Volkner's part in it all began when he was born seventeen years ago, the son of prominent Quincy parents. His parents, like a vast majority of the Luitger family, were completely militaristic. Once Volkner was physically able he was deployed into the Krieger Praktiken, an eight year program designed by the Luitger elders to train up-and-coming Quincys. The training itself was extremely rigorous, life-threatening, and above all, highly secretive towards any outsiders, but in due time Volkner successfully completed the program. Upon completion of his training, the young man was ordered by his superiors to investigate the happenings in Japan, specifically of those in Karakura Town. Because of his half-japanese blood, Volkner looked ethnically enough to be called 'Japanese' more so than German. Besides that, the elders chose him because of his extraordinary skill with Quincy powers despite his young age.
Now a resident of Japan, living in Karakura Town, Volkner attends the local High School along with others his age. Besides formal military training, Volkner has received a good amount of traditional schooling from his years in Krieger Praktiken. But never has he had the experience of attending an actual school or interacting with members of his age group that weren't his immediate family.
Armor
(2 to start with)
Name: Schulterstücke (Pauldron)
Description: A small piece of clothing that can be worn under clothes effectively without being easily discernible. The clothing assumes the appearance of a half-shirt, covering only the wearer's shoulders and a small portion of their upper torso. On the outside of regular clothing the user must also attach two, small patches on either of their shoulders. Those patches look like simple rectangular pieces of cloth, but are in fact the receptacle for the Schulterstücke underneath.
When activated, the underclothing and patches assume the form of armored pauldrons on the wearer's shoulders. It is a common piece of armor for the Luitger family Quincys.
Effect: In their sealed form, disguised as ordinary clothing, the armor has no effects on the wielder. But, once the wielder subjects themselves to an ample amount of reishi, the items 'activate' and take their form as pauldrons. The armor is designed to regulate excess power drawn by the user, thus making some of the more risky techniques of the Luitger family less of a self-threat. In a gist the item assists the user in power control, draining and filtering any extra power back into the atmosphere so it can be used again by the Quincy.
Name: Stulpe überlegen (Gauntlet Superior)
Description: Assumes the appearance of a grey, fingerless glove when not active. Besides that, there is no defining characteristics to the item. Although, when it transforms, the glove becomes an armored gauntlet that covers the wearer's hand and forearm. While transformed the gauntlet changes into a more Quincy-themed coloration, being white, light blue, and silver.
Effect: A piece of equipment similar in function and design as the Sanrei glove, though with a few alterations. Just as the Sanrei glove requires a good amount of timing, patience, and skill to master, so does the Stulpe. The gauntlet gives the wearer a considerable boost in the amount of power they can put behind their usual techniques, but at the cost of a massive stamina drain while in use. Though its not actually possible to use the gauntlet without being subject that effect, training with the object is usually a month-long effort for those who try.
Quincy Techniques
(Up to 4)
Name: Fallbeil Schuss (Guillotine Shot)
Effect: Instead of focusing reishi into an arrow the user spreads the power outwards into an array, which covers the breadth of the bow. This shot is released like an ordinary arrow and is quite unnoticeable to the untrained eye, making it easy to use as a surprise tactic amongst volleys of usual projectiles. Once emitted, the energy will shoot out like a wave (or "guillotine"), easy capable of decapitating weak enemies or the unwary instantly upon contact. Unless it is blocked or otherwise dispelled this shot will continue in its intended trajectory, proceeding to slice through anything that isn't denser than its composition. Thus, the more power applied to the shot then the longer range this attack can continue to slice through objects.
The speed of the attack is quite fast (it can vary, but is usually faster than simple Quincy arrows) and can be used to stagger or confuse stronger opponents with ease when given the right circumstances. The only drawback is that the technique uses more energy than a standard arrow, due to the need of more energy over a wider area and the need for a stable amount of power per shot.
Name: Hundert Lichter (One Hundred Candles)
Effect: A technique where the user fires a single, large bolt of energy from their bow, the effects varying from the user's amount of control over their Quincy powers. The giant arrow in itself is actually one hundred smaller arrows amassed together and packed with incredible pressure, making it highly unstable. Once fired, the arrow will split into ten smaller arrows, and if the user wishes, those ten may separate again each into ten more - for a total of one hundred arrows' force. Those arrows will then detonate upon making impact with any surface, creating moderate-sized explosions of energy.
In addition to those effects, the Hundert Lichter also has another ability, in which the user sacrifices half of the power of the shot (meaning 50 of the arrows) to create a 'net' of reishi between the remaining arrows. This net can ensnare opponents with the assistance of the remaining arrows to pin down the object. After an object or foe has been pinned to a surface, the Quincy user can then chose whether or not to detonate the arrows surrounding the net, which would also detonate the net itself.
Of course, this technique does take some time to create, and for that reason is difficult to use in battle unless given a proper opportunity. The user must keep both hands in contact with their bow for at least a thirty seconds in order to build the necessary power minimum. Even then, if any energy-based attack (i.e. cero or hado) makes contact with the Quincy's bow, it could cause a breakdown of the reishi and result in a considerable explosion. Also, the 'net' of reishi that can be created by this power isn't incredibly powerful and can be torn through or simply dispelled when enough force is applied to it.
Name: Flüchtig Lanze (Fleeting Lance)
Effect: A specialty subset of Spirit Weapon that is known only to the Luitger family. It uses the same energy from the Quincy's composition of their bow in order to instead create a lance. Though it is made entirely of spirit energy, the lance has a subtle metallic glare to it and is fully capable of interacting with physical and spiritual attacks. This means that it works on much the same scale as a shinigami's zanpakutou, and can be used by the wielder as a melee weapon.
The Flüchtig Lanze is an invaluable technique to any Quincy that is caught in close combat, making them easily able to block and attack with another means. The drawback to this technique is that it requires a substantial amount of energy to maintain for long periods of time, as the user is essentially constantly pouring their spirit energy into the weapon. This is comparable with the Quincy bow as if the user was constantly loading and firing arrows.
Name: Blut Vene (Blood Vein)
Effect: An advanced Quincy technique that grants one inhuman defensive capabilities. By making reishi flow directly into their blood vessels, a user of this technique is able to drastically increase their defensive power.
This defensive form of Blut that grants the user inhuman durability, represented by a faint pattern beneath the surface of their skin, which is only visible on the afflicted area when struck. However, despite the considerable defense afforded by this technique, it seemingly isn't absolute and can be torn using sufficient power. Volkner can sustain this technique for only a short while.
Other Notes:
-Volkner's spirit weapon, and energy that is emitted from his arrows and such, is of a light green hue as opposed to the usual Quincy color of light blue.
-He comes from a large family - Three brothers and three sisters of all different ages, but he is the fourth and middle child of the seven.
-The Luitger family style of Quincy combative arts is centered around accumulating massive amounts of power and releasing that power in the form of debilitating techniques. This means that Volkner's individual arrows and usual attacks will have more "oomph" to them when compared to normal Quincy powers, but at a cost to his overall agility. Luitger techniques can usually be dispelled by energy attacks that disrupt the casting of the ability.
-Matsuoka is the surname that Volkner has assumed while in Japan.
-Pickles. That is all.
